The Radio Room is a restaurant that encapsulates the feeling of a late night session in a recording studio. Enveloped in a wash of dim lamp light, friends and collaborators lounge on sofas and sprawl out across plush rugs. Aimless conversation, free flowing ideas and heartfelt laughter are all soundtracked by the perfect playlist that keeps the good vibes going all night. The Radio Room is a dual concept quick service and sit down restaurant located at 1040 University Avenue in Rochester, New York. It aims to solve the problem of unsatisfactory music experiences in restaurants by putting full control of the music into the hands of the guest. Directional speakers keep sound localized to each table, and guests have access to an unlimited digital music library as well as control over volume and playback. The goal is to seamlessly integrate guests’ personal music tastes with an intimate, lounge-like atmosphere, creating a “third place” for people in the neighborhood to spend time with their friends.
